I can’t walk a thousand miles.
Let me say; I cannot offer you the moon and the stars or every material object under the sun, which I know you do not desire.
There are words every lover continues to speak, uttering them incessantly, making claims of love; far-fetched claims of moving mountains for their beloved.
Nothing I can say or offer will give you that.
I can listen when you speak. I can sit in silence when that is what you desire.
My arms shall wrap themselves around you to offer comfort, a silent declaration of love or excitement at being able to be near you.
I shall cook for you when you’re unwell. I shall pray for you to get better.
I will stay on the phone when you wake me up in the middle of the night.
These are things I can do. I cannot move mountains. I cannot use metaphors or offer you the moon and the stars or any of those things.
I can listen when you speak. I can sit in silence when that is what you desire.Navin E. (I cannot make claims like them)
